PPC Violence Free Network Counselor/Advocate – Legal Advocate

PPC Violence Free Network, a program of Family Service & Children’s Aid Society, is currently seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Counselor Advocate. Applicants should understand victimization issues, community resources, crisis intervention techniques, and conflict resolution skills.
The Advocate of PPC Violence Free Network (PPC) position is designed to provide direct services to victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, and other violent crimes in and outside of the office, including but not limited to, medical facilities, and law enforcement agencies.
The Advocate’s role is to ensure that there is immediate response to calls from law enforcement requesting an advocate to provide supportive and crisis intervention services to victims. The Advocate will file PFA’s (Protection from Abuse Orders), SVPO (Sexually Violent Protection Orders), and PFI’s (Protection from Intimidation Orders). The Advocate will attend court proceedings in relation to the orders.
This position is located at PPC Violence Free Network’s Shelter. The work schedule will include occasional evening and weekend hours; 24-hour emergency on-call is required on a rotating basis. This position reports directly to the Program Director of PPC. This position also reports indirectly to the Chief Executive Officer of Family Service & Children’s Aid Society.
Required Skills, Qualifications and Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral science preferred; but will accept equivalent training and experience.
Computer, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills; Acts 34-73-151 clearances; valid PA driver’s license; and reliable transportation required.
Must be willing to complete 80-hour specialized victim service trainingAdditional Postings available from Family Service & Children's Aid Society
