• Maintenance Assistant

    General Statement of Duties:
    Performs routine maintenance duties including maintaining fire sprinkler systems and alarms, carpentry, painting, general daily property maintenance and basic equipment or facility repairs at the Venango Area Industrial Complex.
    Job Features:
    A semi-skilled position that receives daily assignments from and under the direct supervision of the FICDA Facilities Manager, working in consultation with the Development Director and the City Manager, as appropriate. Position will require working in outdoor conditions and may require call-ins in emergency situations.
    Essential Functions Include:

    • Work to maintain the fire sprinkler and alarm systems for the complex.
    • Carpentry tasks, such as installing drywall, ceiling tiles, shelving, hooks, rods, etc.
    • Perform minor electrical tasks, such as replacing lighting fixtures, changing light bulbs, etc.
    • Open clogged drains and toilets, fixing leaks and other such plumbing jobs.
    • Painting and making ready to paint.
    • Snow shoveling and snow plowing.
    • Lawn mowing, weed and brush removal, and other unskilled yard work.
    • Assistance with loading or unloading trucks, moving equipment and furniture, when needed.
    • Properly maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance room in good order.
    • Maintain good working relationships with FICDA tenants and communicate with them as directed.
    • Custodial duties, dusting, sweeping, mopping, trash removal, etc.
    • May be required to work evenings, nights, weekends and overtime.
    • Ability to work well and communicate clearly with Development Director, Facilities Manager and other employees that are involved in the management of the Venango Area Industrial Complex.
    • Adhere to existing safety standards of the City, employing all good work practices in accordance with the City’s insurance company.
    • Any other duties as requested.
    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    An excellent work ethic is required. Must be able read and follow instructions and diagrams. Must be able to work independently after being given specific instructions. Must have general knowledge of simple equipment used in the building trades. Forklift experience is desired. Problem solving is required. Must be willing to attend any educational training that will benefit FICDA in its goal to keep the facilities well maintained.
    Basic Qualifications:
    High school graduate or equivalent. Must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
    Physical Demands:
    While performing the duties of this job, the position requires manual dexterity to carry out the duties as described. Must have ability to stand, walk, crouch, climb ladders and at least 100 stairs, raise arms overhead, push a lawn mower on all areas of the grounds, and work in confined spaces. Position requires 20/20 vision or 2020 corrected vision. Must be able lift at least 50 pounds.
