Freedom from Smoking — 8 free weekly smoking cessation classes run by the American Lung Association; register at the YMCA or email email@example.com; no YMCA membership necessary; rolling enrollment; 8 people needed to run this class.
Personal Training — Individual assessments and customized workouts with a certified trainer are available; packages are available; contact the YMCA.
MBA - Moving Beyond Ability — an exercise program geared to counter deterioration of functional abilities in individuals with movement disorders; work one-on-one with a Certified Health Fitness Specialist at individual's convenience.
Prevention or Prescription — Franklin YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program; led by a trained Lifestyle Coach; educational sessions and group participation over the course of a year. Call (724) 458-9781 to enroll.
Child Watch — 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 5-8 p.m. Monday to Thursday; for children from 3 months to 7 years old; free for members, $2 per hour per child for nonmembers while they use the facility.
Beginner Pound Fit — 6:40 p.m. Thursdays; modifications and focus on technique, form and posture, weighted drum sticks used; free for members, $5 for non-members.
Zumba — 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays; fun, latin and hip hop music and choreography; free for members, $5 for non-members.
Private swim lessons for children and adults. Learn to swim or improve your skills at your convenience. $30 per hour for members. $35 for nonmembers. Packages are available. Call the aquatics director for details or to schedule a time.
Water Babies: For children aged 6 months to 3 years; loosely structured class helps the parent help their child become comfortable in the water; water safety and accident prevention taught; held in the warm water pool.
Preschool swim lessons for ages 3 – 5; lessons taught year round. Class levels used to ensure students are placed according to ability.
R.I.P.P.E.D. — 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays, 9:40 a.m. Fridays; total body workout with resistance, intervals, power, plyometrics and abdominals.
Pump it Up — 4:30 Wednesdays and 5 p.m. Fridays; body bars used for separate muscle groups.
Boot Camp — 6:30 p.m. Mondays; separate work stations; work at your own level, total body workout.
Versa Fit — 6:15 to 6:45 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays; cross-training class with higher intensity plyometrics and cardio training; work at own level.
Silver Sneakers Splash — 1:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays; shallow water class focuses on endurance, agility and coordination; no swimming ability necessary
H2O Exercise for Health — 10 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays; therapeutic class with stretching, toning and range motion exercises; in the big pool
Water in Motion — 6:30 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays; cardio, muscle and cross-fit training; in the big pool.
