The diesel engine, named for Rudolph Diesel, would not have been developed had it not been for the pioneering efforts of Colonel Edwin Drake, who produced the first ommercially scaled oil well in 1859. Join us for this two-day event to celebrate this innovation. Featured will be several engines from different railroads to show off the history of diesel locomotives, and how the discovery of oil in Pennsylvania paved the way for the creation of the diesel fuel that makes them run today.
One stationary locomotive will be available for you to climb 'aboard' for an up-close look at the inside workings of a diesel engine!
