PPC Violence Free Network Invites YOU To Make A Difference By Wearing Denim with a Purpose on April 26.
What is Denim Day?
In 1999 The Italian Supreme Court overturned a rape conviction because the victim was wearing tight jeans at the time of the assault. The justices believed that since the victim was wearing tight jeans, she must have helped her attacker remove them, thereby implying. consent. The following day, the women of the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans, in solidarity with the victim. Today, wearing denim on Denim Day has become a symbol against the misconceptions about sexual violence.
We’d love to see a picture of your denim! Take a photo, share on Facebook, and tag PPC Violence Free Network.
