Community Health Walk
The public is invited to participate in a free, physician-led walking group along the UPMC Northwest walking trail hosted by the Northwest Hospital Foundation. Once a month from August through October, a different UPMC physician will lead a walk and discuss a health or exercise-related topic.
Thursday, August 22: “Getting a Healthy Start in Life” with Heidi Ochs, DO, MPH, UPMC Pediatric Hospital Medicine. Dr. Ochs will discuss the importance of teaching children healthy practices to carry into adulthood.
Tuesday, September 17: “Techniques for Pain Relief” with Kyle Shilk, DO, UPMC Interventional Pain Management. Dr. Shilk will discuss common causes of low back pain and demonstrate simple stretching.
Monday, October 7: “Steps to Heart Health” with Erin Concannon-Fink, DO, UPMC Internal Medicine. Dr. Concannon-Fink will discuss the cardiovascular benefits of exercise.
Participants are asked to meet at the UPMC Northwest Walking Trail Pavilion at 5 pm on each date. Registration is not required. In case of inclement weather, these events will be rescheduled. Please wear footwear appropriate for walking.
