Children of Alcoholics Awareness Week
February 13th-19th is Children of Alcoholics Awareness Week.
Did you know that 18.25 million children in the U.S. live with a family member or parent addicted to alcohol or drugs? That’s 1 in 4 children!
Kids and teens need to know it’s not their fault and they did not cause the addiction. Children also need to be supported by others when parents/caregivers struggle with addiction.
Help kids remember these 4 facts:
- Alcoholism IS a disease. You cannot cure it.
- You CANNOT control your parents drinking.
- You ARE NOT alone.
- You CAN talk about the problem.
