DESCRIPTION:Immerse yourself in the spirited world of Irish folk music with the band On the Lash as they hold a workshop and concert on March 8 at the Barrow-Civic Theatre. \n\nIn honor of Irish traditional music\, On The Lash creates timeless sounds through original voices. With new takes on classic songs and original constructions of established standards\, they aim to explore the inherent energy and versatility of the genre. This compact ensemble delivers a high-caliber performance worthy of the big stage. \n\nSince 2021\, On the Lash has been performing at festivals and concert venues across the US\, as well as sharing their unique background and experience in the genre through educational workshops. Some notable festivals include the KVMR Celtic Fest in Grass Valley\, CA\; the Yachats Celtic Fest in Yachats\, OR\; the Longs Peak Highland Fest in Estes Park\, CO\; and the Celtic Classic in Bethlehem\, PA. Their recorded work includes the 2022 single Dog in the Distance\, with a five-song performance EP released in 2024. \n\nJoin them for a lively two-hour workshop where you'll learn traditional tunes and techniques\, then take the stage to perform alongside the band during their show that night.\n\nSheet music will be provided in advance so attendees can prepare to bring the melodies to life. Participants will also experience the magic behind the scenes with an authentic sound check and stage load-in.\n\nWorkshop\, which starts at 2 p.m.\, is geared toward string instruments (guitar\, violin\, cello)\, flute or vocal. All experience levels welcome for ages 12 to 18.
