DESCRIPTION:We are excited to share that\, together with iHeartMedia\, Community Blood Bank will be hosting Bob-a-thon\, a radiothon to encourage blood donation and raise funds in support of our blood collection efforts across the region.\n\nDuring Bob-a-thon\, iHeartMedia will help amplify our mission by sharing stories\, educating listeners about the ongoing need for blood\, and encouraging community support through on-air fundraising and an on-site blood drive held at the Boston Store. This partnership allows us to reach thousands of people throughout the region and shine a spotlight on the lifesaving impact of blood donation.\n\nCommunity Blood Bank is the sole supplier of blood and blood products to our local hospitals. There is no substitute for blood. Every unit needed by our hospitals must come from the generosity of volunteer donors who give with Community Blood Bank.\n\nLess than 2% of our local community donates blood each year\, even though more than 60% of the population is eligible. Without intervention\, the continued decline in blood donors could become a public safety issue. Summer months are historically challenging for blood collection which makes the success of this radiothon more critical than ever.
