We were in town for a family reunion in the spring of 2017, Chrystal’s mother grew up on a farm on South Pittsburgh Rd. Looking for a place to retire I asked “what about Franklin?” It fit the bill in many aspects: great natural beauty, small town charm, great architecture, friendly people, affordable real estate, low taxes and the big one – a river runs through it. For us it offered the best of both worlds having lived in the country and cities. Enjoying the amenities of Franklin proper yet having easy access to the Erie/Pittsburgh Tail, kayaking, biking, hiking and fishing was exactly what we were looking for. Our neighbors have been very, kind and supportive in welcoming us to town. The same can be said for those involved in civic and community organizations. We’ve only been here for a year, having moved from the Pittsburgh area, but really feel like part of the community. We were fortunate to find a place on the Allegheny River. Living on the water has always been someday, somehow goal and now it has come to pass. Watching the river throughout the seasons, and its abundant wildlife, is a story that is always changing, ever moving and a delight to witness. Ben Franklin said “you may delay but time will not” we are very grateful for all we have received since moving to Franklin and consider ourselves blessed.
