Appley Ever After
-
Remember the Applefest wedding? Back in 2009, we decided to put on a contest with the prize being an all expense paid wedding that took place on Liberty Street on Applefest Saturday.
More than 10,000 votes were cast, and our winning couple was Michael and Lisa Hartzell. We chronicled the entire wedding planning process, from picking out dresses and rings to the moment they left the wedding in a limo. Their honeymoon and reception were even included in their prize, all generously donated by our amazing members!
Nine years later, Mike and Lisa have expanded their family by two precious girls, Darla and Bella. Michael’s son Andrew, who participated in the Applefest wedding, is scheduled to graduate college in 2019. Lisa left her job as an optician to stay home with the girls, and Michael’s position with the United States Army has kept the family on the move. They have gone from Virginia, to South Carolina, to Clarion, to Kentucky, and then to Texas in July 2018, when Michael was selected to attend the Sergeants Major Academy at Fort Bliss. They are anxiously waiting to see where they will be posted once Michael graduates, and hope that it will bring them back to Franklin where they can celebrate their 10th anniversary with family and friends.
Lisa said, “we are thankful that we were given the opportunity to be the Applefest couple, and enjoy telling the story of our unique wedding day. We are certainly blessed to be living our ‘Appley Ever After’.”
