Kendra McNeely has been operating Whispers Between Covers since May of 2025 as a pop up bookstore that traveled around Venango County and the surrounding areas to different events and vendor shows. She has now opened up a physical location at 303 13th St. in Franklin where she will not only have her books, but continue the tanning services formerly provided by Cali Rae’s. She still has plans to renovate an old camper or trailer to continue to do events.
Whisper Between Covers is a bookstore that carries romance, thriller/mystery, and fantasy genre books. They carry traditionally published authors and self published authors, and also love supporting local authors. The Sunroom side offers two lay down mega beds, two stand up mega beds, spray tanning that is voice activated, and teeth whitening.
Over the last couple of months they have done a lot of painting and changing of décor and style to the location. They want everyone who walks in to ‘feel the slow paced, relaxing vibe.’ and to make this a place for everyone who needs some ’me’ time. They are planning on more painting and upgrades to the tanning rooms and some more self care services, so stay tuned. They also plan to have author events and singings with three already booked for this year.
