Hovis Country Florist LLC is owned and operated by Jodi Hovis-Skiba. Officially opening last November, her family has been a part of the small business community in different aspects for many years. With her Art and Business degrees, her past floral design employment, and encouragement from family and friends, she felt now was the right time to open her own shop. Her grandmother owned 2 different shops in the area until retiring in 2008.
Jodi’s main focus is on flowers and gifts for special occasions, just because, funeral arrangements, weddings, bridal showers, baby shows and much more. She is also offering delivery services. She is currently excited about Valentine’s Day and the winter dance season with Easter, prom, and wedding season. She is known for airy jewel tone vase arrangements as well as taking the time to listen to customers and incorporate someone’s favorite color or items into arrangements.
Jodi is keeping her business in the family with help from her daughter, mother, and a few family and friends.
From Jodi in her own words:
“I'm a down-to-earth person that loves to see people smile, and flowers brighten everyone's day. When my grandmother decided to retire in 2008, I lived in WY and taking over her shop was not an option. But I worked for several years in a shop located in Cheyenne, WY. Since then, I have wanted to have my own flower shop. My husband retired from the United States Air Force 2023, and we decided to move back to PA to be closer to family. I had a work from home job for the past few years, but I missed working with the public and being part of the community.”
