BTI: Workshop - English Dialect
BTI Workshop: English Dialect
Barrow-Civic Little Theatre
Jan. 20 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The Barrow Theatre Institute presents an educational and fun workshop to learn about English dialects. Fr. Shawn Clerkin, who was a theatre professor at Gannon University for more than three decades, taught their course for theatre and communication arts majors on voice and articulation. He studied in London and Oxford and has led dozens of educational trips to the UK, Ireland, and Scotland, picking up nuances in language and culture. This workshop will look at two primary English dialects: Standard British (spoken by the more privileged gentry professional) and Cockney (spoken by the service, working-class). Tea will be served, and all will be invited to perform in a judgment-free, enjoyable space. Ages 15 & upTickets $10.
