• Director's Report

  • It is hard for me to believe it's July - almost the mid-point of summer and the mid-point of the year.  For my Executive Assistant, Mike Dulaney, and I it is the beginning - the beginning of our second year working together at the Franklin Chamber.  With much encouragement, respected guidance, and appreciated assistance from our Board of Directors, we made a lot of strides through our first year.

July is also the first of our newest Chamber event - Fifth Friday!  We know that for various reasons everyone cannot attend our monthly Business After Hours, the Chamber's best networking opportunity.  With that thought in mind, we tried to come up with another networking opportunity that would appeal to our members.  From our brainstorming sessions, Fifth Friday was born.  On Friday, July 29, we invite you to join us as for a morning float along the beautiful Allegheny River. We will meet at 8 a.m. at  O.A.R.S. (Elk and 3rd Streets in Franklin) for coffee and granola bars.  If you do not have a kayak, Jeff and his staff will set you up with a kayak and life vest as we head out for Fisherman’s Cove. We will be picked up at Noon and brought back to O.A.R.S. where lunch will be waiting.

The cost for this morning float and lunch is $30.00 - kayak included.  Mark your morning off on the work calendar and call (814) 432-5823 or email us jodi@franklinareachamber.org to make your reservation.

Instead of talking business on the golf course, we will talk business on the River.  If you would like, bring a non-Chamber member and introduce them to us; we will take $5.00 off of each of your costs.  Be sure to make your reservations by July 26.

I hope each of you are able to take advantage of the 4th of July festivities offered in the region and celebrate our freedom.
