Saturday - morning birding tours, evening owl prowel, grassland bird calls, keynote speaker will be Jason Hill, who will discuss his current research findings regarding population dynamics of grassland breeding sparrows and their relationship to habitat created by reclaimed surface mines in PA. Sunday - birding tour at the Mount Zion/Piney Tract important bird area near Sligo, which houses rare and unique grassland breeding sparrows.
The 12th Annual May Garden Mart, hosted by the Franklin Gardeners Association will be held Saturday and Sunday, May 5 and May 6 in Fountain Park, Downtown Franklin. Booths will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Come find everything you need for your garden - perennials, annuals, hanging baskets, conifers, shrubs, gardening products, vegetables, herbs, trees, and ideas. There will also be children's activities, food and a Chinese raffle.

The Arts Co-Op is offering a Hip Hop Master Class (four classes). Registration is May 5th at 5pm. Classes are May 5, May 6, May 12, and May 13 (Saturdays and Sundays); 5:30-6:30pm Beginner level; 6:30-7:30pm Intermediate/Advanced Level. $45.00 registration fee for the four-class series. Or take individual classes for $15.00 an hour. Each class session is one hour long. All four sessions are included in the $45.00 registration fee.

Saint Patrick School will sponsor a second Adult Information Night on Thursday, May 10, from 6:00 to 7:30 in Dion Auditorium. Among the many topics will be the school’s preschool program, math and Spanish programs, the multiage classrooms, and financial aid. The Venango Museum of Art, Science & Industry will host two tours of the Sibley Mansion. The first will be at 2 p.m. and the second at 6 p.m. Each will include watching a DVD presentation, a guided tour, and refreshments. The cost is $20 per person and advance reservations are required.
Venango Catholic High School students will perform their own original poetry and music beginning at 7 p.m. at the school cafeteria. The event is free and open to the public, and literary journals including the students' work will be available for purchase.

The Historic Franklin Preservation Association will present its annual preservation luncheon and awards ceremony on May 12, location to be announced.
First Baptist Church, 1041 Liberty Street, Franklin, will host a musical event featuring classical, love songs, and sacred music at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 12. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., program begins at 6:30. Donations will be accepted in support of Performing Arts Ministry.
